November News | Fireweed Acupuncture

A lone orange leaf hangs in the sunlight.

Hello!

I know we're all already getting inundated with Black Friday emails, but I had a few time-sensitive things I wanted to make sure I shared.

This newsletter will be a bit different! As you may remember, I've been having a hard time using screens, which has made writing newsletter and blog entries much harder. So, I am experimenting with something new - a private podcast, just for newsletter subscribers! (More on that below!)

In this email, you'll find:

  • A few quick clinic schedule updates and a reminder about FSA/HSA funds
  • Fullscript supplement sale details
  • Info on the updated Winter Wellness class (and the sale!)
  • A sneak peek of an upcoming offering I am starting in January
  • A link to the private podcast episode for November, where you can learn more about why seasonal health is important, Winter tips (especially for the Lung), and more.

I hope everyone is able to find some pockets of quiet in the upcoming busy holiday season. As always, you can reply to this email with any ideas or questions - the emails go right to me!

Take care,

Kate Thomas, LAc

P.S. If you've recently visited the clinic, I'd appreciate it if you could take a minute to leave a Google review! Google reviews make a huge difference for small businesses - it helps businesses show up when someone searches. If you've already left a review, thank you so much!

Clinic Schedule Updates

  • The clinic will be closed the week of Thanksgiving (November 24-28) for the holiday! My first day back will be Tuesday, December 2.
  • I'll also be closed December 23 - January 1 for the holiday break. I will be open for a rare Monday on December 22!
  • My schedule is open through mid-January - it releases on a rolling 60 day basis - so if you're someone who likes to plan ahead, you should be able to schedule in 2026 now!
  • FSA/HSA Money - If you have leftover FSA/HSA money that you need to use before the end of the year, you can use these funds for appointment packages. You have 6 months to use the package, so this can be a great way to set yourself up for the new year.
  • As we enter cold and flu season, please review the illness policy! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I really appreciate everyone’s help in reducing exposure to illness in the clinic! The short version: please reschedule if you're sick and wear a mask if you have lingering symptoms (or you're not sure if you're sick). Please make sure to check the link for info about how the cancellation policy applies!

Supplement Sale!

Fullscript is having a sale! Everyone will get 25% off all products (Fireweed Acupuncture members will get 30%!). This could be a great time to stock up on supplements you normally buy. They also sell many of the formulas I use in clinic - reach out if you'd like help finding the right one!

Click here to visit the Fullscript shop!

The sale runs from November 27 at 11 pm to December 3 at 1:59 am CST.

Winter Wellness class - on a new platform!

I am really excited to share the updated Winter Wellness class!

For years, I struggled through Winter - the cold, lack of light, constant fatigue and seasonal depression. After experimenting with the health practices I teach in this class, Winter became much easier for me. I can't promise you'll love Winter, but these Chinese medicine techniques can help you feel more resilient throughout the season.

The class is now on a new, easier-to-use platform with a community space! In addition to the course content, you'll be able to connect with others, share what's working, ask questions, and access additional resources I'll add as the season progresses.

Click here to read more about what you'll learn in the Winter Wellness class! The class is normally $60, but is on sale for $45 until December 22 and 10 pm CST (the Winter Solstice!)

(P.S. Curious to learn more about why I talk about seasonal medicine so much? Listen to the private podcast!)

Field Notes - A new private podcast

This month is my first episode of my brand new, private podcast - just for newsletter subscribers. Click here to listen to the first episode, where I talk about:

  • Why I am creating a podcast
  • How and why thinking about your health seasonally can help you
  • Tips for winter (especially for Lung health)
  • My recipe for cheater poached pears

My hope with these podcasts is to provide useful, practical information about Chinese medicine practices tailored to the season, practical health experiments and habit changes, and the mindset shifts to make change actually stick - all over a cup of tea and in a conversational way. These podcasts give me the chance to go deeper into what I'm learning, observing in the clinic, and testing in my own life.

Because it is a private podcast, it won't show up in a search in your podcast app. Here are the easiest ways to access the podcast:

  • Copy and paste this link in the search box of your podcast app: https://www.fireweedacupuncture.com/field-notes-private-podcast - then subscribe to have the episodes delivered automatically
  • Find the most recent episode on the Resource Library page
  • Find the link to the new episode in each month's newsletter, or check out the archive here.

Fireweed Space - coming January 2026!

In January, I'm launching Fireweed Space - a monthly mini-class and community designed to help you explore new health practices in a supportive, experimental environment. Each month, we'll dive into a different practice from Chinese medicine, giving you practical tools to try and a community to learn alongside.

Each month includes:

  • A mini-class (under an hour) introducing a new health practice
  • Community spaces to share tips, resources, and support
  • Additional opportunity for monthly Q&A calls where you can ask questions and get personalized guidance on that month's topic

Click here for a sneak peek and to join the waitlist! I'm excited (and a little nervous!) to share this with you. I hope it becomes a resource for anyone curious about Chinese medicine and interested in experimenting with others on the same journey.

Currently:

  • Tea: Scottish Morn and Paris by Harney & Sons - I picked up a few of their teas recently and have been enjoying them! Scottish Morn is a nice, strong, black tea blend that is great for dreary days and cooler temps. Paris is a bit like an Earl Grey, with additional flavors. Both are great with a splash of oat milk (or whatever you like in tea!).
  • Cookbook: Linger by Hettie Liu McKinnon has been a great surprise for me! It is described as a book mostly about salads, but the author has a wide definition of what counts as a salad (not just raw vegetables!), and the recipes seem approachable. Her essays are also great!
  • It is planner season! I like Japanese planners, and next year's releases are upon us. For any fellow stationary fans, I am using a Jibun Techo weekly view next year for work and a Hobonichi Weeks for home and journaling (chasing the ever elusive work/life balance).
There is perfection in the connection to our shared vulnerability, not in a perfect life that guards against having any vulnerability at all.
- Sharon Salzberg, Finding Your Way

That's all for this email! As always, please feel free to email me with any thoughts or questions!

Take care,

Kate
